Chief Financial Officer of the Maryville Housing Authority:
Sid came to MHA in May 1999 after working nearly 31 years for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He began his career with HUD as an auditor with the Office of Audit in 1968. In 1971 he transferred to the Knoxville Area Office of HUD as a Financial Analyst in the Public Housing Division. While in that position, he was awarded the prestigious J. Milton Slifkin award. This award was granted annually, based on a national competition, to the individual determined to be the outstanding financial analyst in HUD's Office of Public Housing. In 1986 he became the Chief of the Assisted Housing Management Branch, a branch that provided technical assistance and oversight to Public Housing Agencies administering the Public Housing and Section 8 Housing Assistance programs. In 1991 he became the Director of the Public Housing Division, a title that was later changed to Program Center Coordinator, and where he remained until he left HUD in 1999. While in these supervisory roles, Sid earned a number of special achievement awards for his abilities, achievements and contributions to the field of public housing. Sid is a Knoxville native, currently residing in Powell with his wife Nancy, daughter Rachel and son Ryan. Rachel attends Pellissippi State Technical Community College and Ryan attends public school in Powell. Sid and his family attend First Baptist Church of Powell where he and Nancy sing in the choir and are active in many other areas of the church and its programs as well as the Powell community. As Chief Financial Officer for the Maryville Housing Authority, he is responsible for all of the financial operations and activities of the housing authority. This includes maintaining the financial books and records for all program activities, preparing budgets and related documents, preparing financial reports for all program activities, assuring payments of invoices are accurate, timely, and properly distributed to the appropriate program area, overseeing the investment portfolio, maintaining an accurate accountability of all accounts receivables and payables, and assuring the financial integrity of the housing authority is maintained at all times in accordance with local, state, and federal rules, laws, and regulations.
